每月聚會

HKMUG是蘋果電腦的附屬組織嗎？

我們是一個完全獨立的非牟利團體，並不附屬於任何商業機構。但當然我們經常和蘋果電腦及各大Mac經銷商就各種活動及優惠合作，為各會員謀求更多福利。

香港有眾多Mac用家組織，為何要加入HKMUG？

HKMUG是本港一非牟利合法註冊Mac用家團體，成立至今已有十五年歷史。正因如此，我們更有經驗，比其他組織更瞭解本港Mac用家的需要。更重要的是我們有完善的會章及機制，執委亦每年由會員一人一票選出，確保每位會員的利益。

網上免費討論區及下載網頁多的是，為甚麼還要使用電子通訊站（BBS）？

由於本會的BBS只供會員登入，因此你可以放心加入討論，不怕惡意攻擊，甚至可以放心出售及收購二手貨品。我們的下載區由各會員精選各方免費及共享軟件。在每月聚會還可與其他會員面談。總而言之，作為我們的會員，你可以享受最貼身，最穩妥的服務。

我還未用過BBS電郵。它有何好用之處？

1. 透過專用軟件或任何網頁瀏覽器，均可使用完全圖象介面；2. 因使用獨立系統，可完全防止Outlook之類的病毒入侵問題；3. 可自設資料夾及儲存空間，移動及備份電郵及檔案與Finder使用無異；4. 不會突然加收費用，因為會費由會章所訂，必須經會員投票通過方能作實。

HKMUG真的很吸引！怎樣參加最快捷？

最直接的方法是到我們的每月聚會直接辦理參加手續！如未能撥冗出席，可填妥表格連同支票寄回。我們會儘快把登入BBS的資料電郵給你，以及寄出會員證。

All members are entitled to use our Electronic Bulletin Board System (BBS) for FREE. You can get a free email account, 50MB of online storage, hundreds of shareware, freeware, software updates and hardware drivers, and tech-support by mutual help among members in a friendly and easy-to-use environment. Special discounts are offered to our members by various local vendors. Save your hard-earned cash just by presenting your membership card! Occasional special discounts are also offered during our monthly meetings and through our newsletter.

MONTHLY MEETING

Every second Tuesday of the month, our monthly meeting will be held with demos and experience sharing by vendors and members, or even tutorials on the latest software. OTHERS

Every month we will send you by post a color newsletter that contains the latest news on HKMUG, our monthly meeting, and Mac tips by experienced users. Occasional discounts and special offers will also be put on the newsletter so you can get the most updated information. Every member can also receive a membership card that can be used to get discounts from numerous local vendors.

FAQ

Is HKMUG a subsidiary of Apple Computer?

HKMUG is an independent non-profit-making organization, and does not belong to any business organization. But of course we often cooperate with Apple Computer and other Mac vendors in organizing functions and providing special offers to our members.

Why should I choose to join HKMUG among the numerous Mac user organizations in HK?

HKMUG is a non-profit-making Mac registered under HK Community Ordinances, and has a history of 15 years. Because of this, we are more experienced in knowing what local Mac users feel and need. More importantly, we have an established structure and constitution, and our committee is elected on a one-person-one-vote status, so as to best-protect the interests of our members.

Why should I use the BBS when there are so many free discussion forums on the internet?

Our BBS is limited only to our members, so you can join discussion without the fear of flame-wars and intimidation. You can even feel safe to sell or buy used items in our Second-Hand Market on the BBS. Our Shareware Library is a fine selection by our enthusiastic members. In a nutshell, as our member, you can enjoy the best service in town.

I've never used BBS Email service before. What are the advantages of using it?

1. You can read/write emails with the easy-to-use interface of the BBS; 2. Our BBS uses a unique system that can prevent email viruses like those attacking Outlook and email clients alike; 3. You can create storage folders and subfolders freely to store and retrieve files in the ways the Mac Finder does; 4. Extra fees will not be suddenly levied because charges are guaranteed in our Constitution, and can only be altered by a vote among members.

HKMUG really sounds attractive! How can I join it?

The best way is to come to our monthly meeting to join us! If you cannot attend, you may fill out the application form and send it back to us with a cheque. We will send you the membership kit and BBS login info ASAP.

To join us, you first need to fill in our application form (PDF or SimpleText).

If you mail back the application form to us, please enclosed your membership fee by crossed cheque payable to "Hong Kong Macintosh User Group."

Every member is entitled to a membership kit that includes a free CD-ROM. It contains the FirstClass Client software for logging into our BBS.

• If you prefer to collect the membership kit in our monthly meetings, please allow 4 weeks for processing.
• If you prefer to receive the membership kit by mail, please allow 8 weeks for processing.

Membership Fee

• The annual (12 months) membership fee is HK$300
• The annual (12 months) senior citizen / student membership fee is HK$200 (*Photocopy of proof of eligibility required)

However, the easiest way to become our member is to come to our monthly meeting to fill in the application form and pay the annual membership fee at our reception counter. Then you can enjoy the discount on the entry fee to our Monthly Meeting and get the membership kit at the spot!
